Peace of mind on an island surrounded by lake Saimaa

Villa Katajanokka, or Juniper's Beak, is located on an island, but a dirt road leads to it. The lake surrounds this dreamlike place from three sides. Looking at the map it becomes clear that this island really does have a beak or headland and the villa itself is its eye. This is how this villa got its name, as there are also juniper bushes on the island. The beach sauna, which also has a fireplace room, is located on a sandy bay bathed in the evening sun. For example, you can start a rowing tour from the beach.

Relaxing stay or activities for a longer period of time

The approximately two-hectare peninsula invites you to spend the day in the fresh air, enjoying a peaceful time with grilling, swimming, and sauna.

In the summer, a private boat is available for you to row on the lake and try your luck at fishing.

For those who want more activities, there are various options for outdoor sports nearby.

We also rent kayaks, SUP boards, outboard motors for the rowing boat, and larger motor boats, so there are plenty of activities even for longer stays.

The 8.5-kilometer outdoor trail is perfect for Nordic walking, jogging, or mountain biking. You can also rent hiking poles or a fat bike from us.

Welcome to holiday house vacation also in the winter season

You can exercise by skiing or explore the nature of Lake Saimaa along the nearby ski trails. When the ice is strong enough, you can also ski along the shores on ski tracks and ice fish in the fish-rich lake. Snowy winter clothes dry quickly in the drying cabinet.

In the outdoor sauna, you can enjoy the warmth of the wood-fired sauna and refresh yourself by swimming in the ice hole. The cottage also has an electric sauna for those moments when you want to quickly and easily get into the warmth of the sauna.

The cottage stays warm easily with the help of an air heat pump, and if you wish, you can spend a cozy evening in the glow of the fireplace.

"Wonderful cabin in the woods! We cooked dinner at the fire pit every night. Our dog enjoyed exploring the property, which we were able to do because the neighbors aren't close. We used both the electric sauna in the main house and also the wood sauna by the lake. We took the boat out on the lake to check out the surrounding islands. Uta also told us about a nice hiking trail, which we went on each day and took a break for snacks and drinks at the fire pit along the trail. The house has everything we could have needed, and the location was perfect for us. We only have 2 people and our dog, but the cabin was big enough for 6 or 8 with no problem. Perfect cabin for a getaway to the Finnish forest!"

"The cottage is in perfect position to explore the wonderful area of the huge lake area and is located directly next to the lake with an amazing view on the lake and the forested hills around from the terrace. It has a great luxurious sauna after which you can jump into the lake to cool down. There is a boat to row over the lake and a grilli mökki for bbq in the evenings. The house itself has many rooms and a big living room and kitchen with most necessary things. We enjoyed our stay there very much. In the surrounding we hiked, picked mushrooms and berries. The birds on the lake, such as the howling loon at night are amazing. Communication with Uta was easy too. Thank you :)"

Can pets be brought to the cottages ?

What kind of beach is there at the cottage?

What fishing opportunities do we have during our stay in the cottage?

Although we belong to the Pihlajavesi Saimaa ringed seal protection area, all kinds of fishing are possible here except for net fishing on Lake Saimaa from February to June.

The fishing season starts in January with net fishing for pike-perch, followed by the start of the catfish and ice fishing season in February. In April, it's a good time to catch pike as the shores begin to melt.

As the water warms up, you can fish for perch or try to catch pike with a lure. You can troll throughout the open-water season (May-December). Many of our customers have caught salmon as well.

What time can the cottage be obtained and what time must the cottage be vacated?
